ARTISTIC DEVELOPMENT

 

For participating artists, the residency is designed to support:

 

– Development of performance projects, interpretative propositions, and sustained percussion-centered artistic research

– Sustained critical exchange among percussionists, ensembles, and mentors

– Examination of how sources, genealogies, materials, and traditions condition performance

– Rigorous interpretative, technical, and methodological critique

– Refinement of sonic, material, conceptual, and relational dimensions

– Development of methods of artistic articulation and documentation

– Deeper understanding of rehearsal as epistemic practice and analytical method

– Preparation of projects for public presentation

 

Across solo and collective practices, the residency is designed to support:

 

– Deepened engagement with embodied and situated performance knowledge

– Active participation in artistic inquiry

– Expansion of contemporary percussion methodologies

– Development of methods for listening, rehearsing, documenting, and presenting performance

– Articulation of embodied, technical, and tacit forms of knowledge

– Critical examination of agency, authority, and responsibility

– Contribution to historically informed and future-oriented percussion performance practices

– Public presentation within an international contemporary music festival

 

For participants, the residency provides a demanding and supportive context in which artistic development proceeds through sustained practice, dialogue, experimentation, critical reflection, and reciprocal engagement with others’ work.
